Red, White and Royal Blue fans may not be getting that rumored three-hour cut they’ve been clamoring for, but Prime Video just dropped a never-before-seen deleted scene that may help to fulfill those cravings.
The hit queer rom-com based on the hugely popular book of the same name by Casey McQuiston, follows Alex Claremont Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), the son of the first female President, and Prince Henry of England (Nicholas Galittzine) in an enemies-to-lovers romance that is melting everyone’s hearts.
In the newly released deleted scene, Alex is on the phone with his friend Nora (Rachel Hilson) and complaining about how hard it will be to convince the public that he and Henry are friends in order to avoid an international incident after the pair nearly ruined a royal wedding by toppling Prince Phillip’s (Thomas Flynn) wedding cake.
Henry, of course, overhears the call when he comes into the kitchen of Kensington Palace to get ice cream. The two verbally spar as Henry tries to berate Alex for not taking their fake friendship seriously.
To prove him wrong Alex snaps a photo of their hands together on a box of Cornetto ice cream cones and posts it on social media with the caption that Alex says reads, “Nothing goes better with leftover cake than ice cream with my good pal at Prince Henry YUK.”
Alex then takes a huge bite of ice cream and says, "Don't worry, your majesty: You're dealing with a professional."
This scene in the book is called the "Cornetto Scene" by fans who were disappointed not to see it in the movie adaptation, but director Matthew López thought the scene "relieved" too much tension between Alex and Henry that he wanted to keep going.
“Weirdly, the Cornetto scene actually relieved some of the tension between them. I was like, look, if you take the Cornetto scene out, then the tension from that first scene remains when they go into the interview scene," López said in an interview with Teen Vogue. “I learned a lot of it is about taking the energy from one scene and using it to help you get into the next scene.”
He continued, saying, “The Cornetto scene is charming. But we also understood, narratively speaking, it was unnecessary. And more to the point, it sapped the tension out.”
Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to gush over the new scene and the Prime Video account even responded to some in hilarious. One fan wrote, “I now identify as an ice cream cone” and Prime Video responded, “completely valid.”

Another person commented, “rwrbonprime, you are officially now the love of my life” and Prime video quipped back, “where's the signet ring.”

Considering how many scenes ended up on the cutting room floor in order to keep the movie to a 121 minute runtime, we wouldn’t be surprised if more deleted scenes like this one get released soon.
