We were just gifted another teaser trailer for the most anticipated queer movie of the summer!
Based on a YA novel by Casey McQuiston, Red, White and Royal Blue will hit Prime Video in two weeks, but to hold us over we just got yet another sneak peek at the LGBTQ+ rom-com.
The film follows the same plot as the BookTok fave with The Kissing Booth’sZakhar Perez taking on the role of Alex Claremont-Diaz, the son of the U.S’s first female president, and Cinderella star Nicholas Galitzine playing Britain's Prince Henry. The two are bitter rivals who are forced to pretend to be friends after a public altercation almost causes an international incident. After spending time together, what started as animosity soon develops into passion and the two start a secret affair.
The new 30-second teaser introduces fans to more of the core cast of characters. We get a closer look at Star Trek’s Clifton Collins Jr as Alex’s dad Oscar, Love Victor’s Rachel Hilson as Alex’s ex-girlfriend Nora, and The L Word’s Sarah Shai as chief-of-staff Zahra Bankston.

We are also treated to our first look at trans activist and star of The Walking Dead Aneesh Sheth who plays Amy, a trans member of the secret service who is tasked with trying to keep Alex and Prince Henry out of harm’s way.
We also get more of the delightful Uma Thurman playing President Ellen Claremont in what may be her funniest role in years. The teaser shows Alex finally working up the courage to tell his mom about his budding relationship and she immediately quips, “She’s not a Republican is she?”
While the teaser for Red, White and Royal Blue may only last 30 seconds, we get a glimpse at the much-anticipated kiss and even a shot of a cute butt-grab moment.
Immediately after the trailer hit Twitter, fans stormed the comment section to express their excitement. One fan wrote, "I can't! Time needs to move faster!" While another commented on a clever line from the teaser, "'I will brexit your head from your body' is the best line in existence, oh I will be seated, can't wait for this movie." And yet another fan expressed their excitement that a trans actress was cast to play the trans character Amy, "I was so worried they wouldn't cast a trans actress as Amy but IMDB tells me they did!"
The teaser is captioned “America, this is my first family,” which leads us to believe Prime Video may be dropping a second trailer soon that will introduce us to Prince Henry’s family as well.
Red, White and Royal Blue will be released on Prime Video on August 11.
