He's certainly ready to be the master of somebody's universe.

We now officially have our first look at Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam aka He-Man in the upcoming Masters of the Universe film…and reactions are mixed.

It was announced last May that Galitzine would be taking on the superhero role. Masters of the Universe is a beloved franchise, but one that has largely been confined to animation and toys, rather than live-action. (The one exception was the 1987 film of the same name starring Dolph Lundgren which is a total camp classic.)

So far, not much is known about this latest foray into the world. The given description of the film is only that "a young man on Earth discovers a fabulous secret legacy as the prince of an alien planet, and must recover a magic sword and return home to protect his kingdom." We also know the cast will be rounded out by Camila Mendes, James Purefoy, Alison Brie, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, Charlotte Riley, and Jared Leto as Skeletor. It’s being directed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee) from a screenplay by Chris Butler (ParaNorman).

Late last year, fans were treated to a glimpse of how the Red, White & Royal Blue star’s transformation into He-Man is shaping up. Now, we get to see even more, thanks to set photos that have been circulating online.

Both fans of Masters of the Universe and fans of Galitzine himself quickly started weighing in with their thoughts on his new look, and the very little we know about the movie — for better or for worse.

"He's gonna be the prettiest He Man..and I'm sat"

"Not a gay character!!!!! Noooo we are losing him"

"i need to see him wearing this idc"

"*sigh* Of course it’s set on Earth. I gotta be honest I don’t have high hopes. At worst it’s going to make fun of He-Man and at best be a bad attempt at doing Barbie again. Either way I don’t expect any actual love or respect for MOTU in this."

"Red, White and Royal Blue 2: From Top To Bottom. Prince Henry says it's my turn for some ass next time."

"Is. . . is this movie in a modern setting? And if so. . . why? I’m not even going to say anything about this actor as He-Man because I think those pictures say everything there is to say."

"Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He Man. He's so pretty in pink"

"Please tell me that they are actual police officers arresting Nicholas Galitzine and that the movie doesn’t take place in Earth."

"NICHOLAS GALITZINE AS HE-MAN YOU WILL CHANGE LIVES"

"The cut phase and the Nicholas Galitzine He-Man transformation is complete. Everyone just needs to trust the process!"

There's still a long way to go before Masters of the Universe hits theaters; currently, the expectation is for a June 5, 2026 release. But there will undoubtably be more set photos and behind-the-scenes treats to hopefully get fans hyped along the way!
