The Montero era lives on.
Lil Nas X’s first-ever documentary film, titled Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero, is set to premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The documentary will follow Nas X as he rises to fame and travels around the globe with the Long Live Montero world tour.
Directed by Carlos López Estrada (Blindspotting) and Zac Manuel (Time, Alone), the documentary follows “one of today’s most provocative pop stars at a transformational point in his life, both on and off stage. Shot over the course of 60 days with unparalleled access, the film follows Montero Hill, a.k.a. Lil Nas X, on an emotional odyssey through the creation and performance of the critically acclaimed Long Live Montero show.”
Nas X will also attend the 2023 TIFF event for the world premiere of this exciting new documentary.
“Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero is a triumphant ode to the extraordinary power of self-expression, music, and identity,” TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey wrote in a statement. “In this groundbreaking documentary, we witness Lil Nas X challenging boundaries and reshaping the artistic landscape. The film’s captivating journey underscores the profound impact of Lil Nas X, who fearlessly brings audiences together through the universal language of music. We are thrilled to host Lil Nas X at TIFF this year.”
In the last few years, Nas X made waves with songs like “Old Town Road,” “Industry Baby” with Jack Harlow, and “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” which all went no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This propelled the rapper to embark on a world tour that included dates across North America, Europe, Oceania, and South America.
We can’t wait to see the behind-the-scenes journey that Nas X experienced on his first-ever world tour while his career kept reaching new heights.
Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which will take place September 7-17, 2023. For more information, visit the official TIFF website.
