An LGBTQ+ story in the #1 film in the world thanks to M. Night Shyamalan.
Light spoilers ahead...
Starring Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Dave Bautista, Kristen Cui, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Abby Quinn, and Rupert Grint, the film follows a gay couple (Eric & Andrew) spending the weekend at a reclusive cabin in the woods with their daughter, Wen. Four strangers show up and claim that their family has been selected to determine the fate of the world – and in order to save it, they must intentionally kill one of the three. But is it true, or have they just been targeted by some deranged psychopaths?
In true Shyamalan fashion, the film is a thrilling, beautiful, and twisty ride where you're never quite sure what to believe. Groff and Aldridge are a power couple and through flashbacks, we learn about their love story, Andrew being rejected by his parents, their adoption of Wen, a tragic hate crime that took place, and what brought them to the cabin.
It's an undeniably queer story naturally intertwined with horror, and now it has dethroned Avatar: The Way Of Water as the #1 movie in the world after seven weeks.
"Thank you to all who made @KnockAtTheCabin the number one film this weekend!" Shyamalan tweeted. "I am pinching myself that this is the seventh time this has happened to me."
