Amanda Seyfried is offering a tiny glimmer of hope in these dark times after hinting that a sequel Jennifer’s Body might be in the cards.
While on the red carpet at the Toronto Film Festival recently, Seyfried was stopped by someone gushing about how much they loved the 2009 cult classic.
"I think we’re making another one," she said, immediately earning a thrilled reaction by everyone nearby. When asked if she was confirming, she stressed that she wasn’t — that she only thinks it’s happening. And then she gave a great big wink.

For those who may have tragically missed the Jennifer’s Body train, the movie followed a nerdy high schooler (Seyfried) whose polar opposite best friend, Jennifer (Megan Fox), starts to undergo disturbing changes following an encounter with an indie band who wanted to make a deal with the devil — using Jennifer as a virgin sacrifice.
It’s the kind of female-centric dark satirical comedy that audiences may not have quite been ready for in 2009, and its success was further hindered by a completely misguided marketing campaign.
It’s also the kind of movie that would make a fascinating sequel, if done well. And Seyfried isn’t the only one keeping that hope alive.
Just last year, screenwriter Diablo Cody discussed her disappointment with Jennifer’s Body being a box office flop, and how that’s shifted as the horror comedy’s status as a deeply beloved cult classic has solidified. She also admitted that she’s glad people finally came around to how good it is, enthusiastically adding that is still hoping to revisit that world.
