Fall is about to get very steamy with the news that the gay erotic thriller Saltburn, featuring Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi as lovers, finally has a release window.

The film, which has been written and directed by Emerald Fennell, best known for 2020’s Promising Young Woman, has been highly anticipated since its announcement, but little was known about when it would be coming to screens and what it was all about. Now, we finally have a better picture of both.

Saltburn is described as “a wicked tale of privilege and desire.” According to IndieWire, the film follows Keoghan’s character Oliver Quick, a student who is struggling to find his place at Oxford University. He soon finds himself being drawn into the world of the alluring, charming, and aristocratic Felix Catton (Elordi). Felix invites Oliver to join him on his family’s lavish estate to meet his eccentric relatives. Once there, they embark on an unforgettable summer together.

Rumor has it that the film also features several explicit love scenes and quite a bit of nudity. A source told World of Reel that Keoghan’s sex scenes in the film “will shock” audiences.

The film also stars Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Archie Madekwe, and Alison Oliver.

Yep, that sounds exactly like the kind of movie we’d like to see. As for how long we’ll have to wait to feast our eyes on this thriller: thankfully not too long. Saltburn surprisingly won’t be premiering at either Toronto or Venice’s film festivals, leading to speculation that it may debut at Telluride in August. However, it’s slated to arrive in theaters on Black Friday, November 24, in New York and Los Angeles. Then it will expand to further theaters on December 1. Fingers crossed that window won’t be affected by the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and Writer’s Guild strikes.
