The countdown to Halloween is on and many of us are still scrambling for costume ideas.
Naturally, social media was 110% ready to offer up some options but this year's offerings came in the form of a hilarious meme. Folks are taking the Spirit Halloween brand and photoshopping "costumes" onto the cover, making it seem like it's a purchasable option.

One outfit titled "gay guy" featuring a plain-dressed man wearing a rainbow flag draped over his shoulders has gone especially viral, so much so that the Spirit Halloween brand has felt the need to respond to the meme.
“@aubs_4213 Hey! This is not something we carry or have carried before.”— aubs (@aubs) 1666373847
It's hard to tell if the original tweeters genuinely think the costume is real, but the brand clearly decided to err on the side of caution. The tweets aren't quite a cease and desist but they are almost as funny! "This is not an officially licensed costume from our company," one reads. "Photoshopping our packages seems to be trending at the moment. We will be passing this to our review team. Thank you for bringing this to our attention."

If only it were real...
Even pop star Lil Nas X joined in on the fun. Someone photoshopped a picture of him and gave it the title, "gay person in terrible outfit." It made its way to him on Twitter and his response is almost as hysterical as the image.
“it’s funny until u realize both of my dead grandmothers stitched this outfit together by hand right before passing and i wore it to go and donate to a childrens hospital after volunteering at a soup kitchen for the homeless. not so@funny now is it?”— im not reading all that (@im not reading all that) 1666628993
"it’s funny until u realize both of my dead grandmothers stitched this outfit together by hand right before passing and i wore it to go and donate to a childrens hospital after volunteering at a soup kitchen for the homeless," he replied. "not so@funny now is it?"
Oh, the internet. Never change.
