It’ll be a sunny day and the lesbian pop star will be sweepin’ the clouds away!

In case you thought you were too old for Sesame Street, the beloved educational children’s show is about to put a Sapphic twist on its 55th season.

The trailer for the upcoming season was released today with a very special guest star befriending Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby Cadabby.

Joining the Sesame Street crew is lesbian pop star Reneé Rapp, who sings in the clip, “Everybody has feelings, feelings inside them. Feelings are real so let them show. It’s okay, there’s a way to show your feelings. To really feel your feelings, every day.”

“Music can help when you have all kinds of feelings,” Elmo says later in the trailer.

The 25-year-old Mean Girls actress is making her guest appearance on a season that will focus on expressing emotions, mindfulness, and resiliency.

Rapp isn’t the only LGBTQ+ star who will be featured on the show. Tennis pro Billie Jean King, Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness, and singer-songwriter SZA are also making guest appearances on the new season, alongside Michael B. Jordan, Noah Kahan, Samara Joy, and Chris Stapleton.

Fans are thrilled that Rapp is going to be part of their nostalgic fave, with one writing, “Reneé Rapp singing on Sesame Street. This is everything to me.”

Elmo is also excited about learning more about music from the “Poison Poison” singer. “There’s a lot to learn from music — yeah, timing and harmonies and melody and different styles and different cultures,” he told The Associated Press. “It’s really cool! We’ve got a lot of wonderful people come and do some music with us on Sesame Street, like Miss Reneé Rapp and SZA! Chris Stapleton, Noah Kahan, Samara Joy — lots of great people!”

The upcoming season will begin airing on Max on January 16, but it is unclear where the show will end up next. Warner Bros. Discovery — which owns the streaming service Max — didn’t renew the agreement to finance the show for a 56th season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sesame Street season 55 premieres on Thursday, January 16, and will release episodes weekly on Max.
