TikTok stars Nicky Champa and Pierre Boo announced earlier this summer that they were getting a divorce, and recently opened up directly to fans about the unexpected demise of their relationship.

The two had been together for over six years, and tied the knot in August 2022. Less than a year later, the popular content creators told Out that their “relationship became a brand,” which made things “a bit complicated.”

Expanding on that in their joint YouTube video confirming the breakup, Boo said, “We felt responsible for what we created, what we built together. And it’s almost like social media adds another layer where you cannot really listen to your inner voice and your needs.”

But their social media success isn’t fully to blame for their relationship not working out.

Champa had previously insinuated to Out that the 9-year age gap between them played a role in their growing apart, which he seems to echo here.

“At a certain point, you either grow even closer to each other or you grow away,” he said. “And I think that a year ago, we started to realize our growing paths are going in different directions. We have different priorities, we have different wants and needs, which is okay.”

Emotions were running high during certain points in the video, such as at the end, when Champa vowed to always stay friends with Boo, and thanked him for the seven years they spent together.

“Thank you for this journey,” he added, addressing the fans. “It was incredible and I’m so excited to see where this next chapter of life takes both of us.”
