Nicholas Galitzine’s striking blue eyes, chiseled jaw and onscreen chemistry with his Red, White and Royal Blue co-star Taylor Zakhar Perez have the internet salivating, but now there's even more reason to drool because the actor can sing too.
Fans recently unearthed a YouTube video of the actor playing the acoustic guitar while singing Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness.” The video, which was originally posted three years ago, shows a baby-faced Galitzine sitting in what looks like his bedroom, singing while occasionally looking into the camera with soulful eyes.
Fans of Galitzine’s performance as Prince Henry in the gay rom-com Red, White and Royal Blue, were quick to point out in the comments that Del Rey is referenced in a pivotal scene before Henry and Alex (Perez) have sex for the first time. In the scene the prince tells Alex that he thinks they should “make love” and Alex quips, “Who says ‘make love’ these days? Are we going to listen to Lana Del Rey while we do it?”
The video, which has now amassed nearly one million views, is filled with comments from fans surprised by his singing voice. “Wait does no one think that his voice AND his way of singing are like Shawn Mendes's?? Wow nick could actually be a singer,” one person commented. Another wrote, “OMG he likes Lana!!! He has such a beautiful voice, he should have sang a song in Red White and Royal Blue.”
Based on a best-selling novel by Casey McQuisten, Red, White and Royal Blue follows enemies First Son Alex and Prince Henry as they are forced to pretend they’re friends in order to avoid an international incident. The animosity between the two quickly dissolves and turns to love as we watch Alex come to terms with his bisexuality and the pair sneak off to have sex in hidden locations.
The film debuted at number one on Prime Video and is one of the top three most watched rom-coms on the streaming giant. The film has been so successful that director Matthew López has even hinted at his interest in continuing the story.
Let's hope we get to hear Galitzine's sultry singing voice in the sequel!
