The 82nd Golden Globe Awards had several queer winners, but also a bunch of losses for LGBTQ+ nominees.

The Hollywood Foreign Press kicked off this 2025 awards season into high gear on Sunday, January 5 at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards.

Some of the biggest winners at the 2025 Golden Globes included Shōgun, Hacks, and Baby Reindeer on the TV side, as well as The Brutalist and Emilia Pérez on the film side.

While many of our queer favorites didn't win, being nominated is still a huge honor. Read on to see all the LGBTQ+ nominees who didn't win.

Ryan Murphy's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story — starring Cooper Koch — was nominated for three Golden Globes but lost in all three categories.

Jodie Foster won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress — Miniseries or Television Film for her performance on HBO's True Detective: Night Country. However, the series lost in two other categories:

Max original series Hacks won two of three nominations at the 2025 Golden Globes. The only snub was for Hannah Einbinder in the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Television Series (Musical or Comedy) category.

'Sing Sing' (1 loss)

Colman Domingo in Sing Sing.

Sing Sing only earned one nomination at the 2025 Globes: Colman Domingo for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama). However, the actor didn't win the award.

'House of the Dragon' (1 loss)

Emma D'Arcy on House of the Dragon.

House of the Dragon was another project with only one nomination at the 2025 Golden Globes. Nonetheless, Emma D'Arcy did not win the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series (Drama).

'Maria' (1 loss)

'Agatha All Along' (1 loss)

Kathryn Hahn on Agatha All Along.

Marvel Television/Disney+

Kathryn Hahn, who played the queer witch Agatha Harkness in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series Agatha All Along, was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series (Musical or Comedy). Alas, Hahn did not win the award.

'Queer' (1 loss)

Daniel Craig in Queer.

Daniel Craig was nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) at the 2025 Golden Globes for playing William Lee (essentially, a fictionalized version of writer William S. Burroughs) — but the former James Bond actor did not win the award.

'Moana 2' (1 nomination)

Editor's note: the film's titular character is played by out bisexual actress Auliʻi Cravalho.

The box office hit Moana 2 was nominated for Best Motion Picture (animated) at the Globes, but lost to the indie animated feature Flow.

Generally speaking, the adorable animated feature The Wild Robot from DreamWorks Animation competed in four different categories at the 2025 Golden Globes. One of them was Best Original Song (Motion Picture) for the movie's song, "Kiss the Sky" — both performed and cowritten by Maren Morris. And yet, The Wild Robot lost in all four categories.
