Sorry gays and theys, "Unholy" singer-songwriter Sam Smith is not on the dating apps – but not of their own volition.
In a new interview withET Canada, Smith shared that though the nonbinary icon “never did Grindr” but they actually got booted off a couple other popular dating apps.
“I did Tinder once," Smith revealed. "I think I got chucked off of Tinder. I got chucked off of Hinge because they thought that I wasn’t me.”
This has happened to quite a few celebrities. Other users think they are blatant catfishes and report them, and once you hit a certain number of reports the app will automatically suspend their profile. But to be fair, the Grammy-winner said they “didn’t verify” their profiles.
“I should have done that,” Smith said.
Despite all the drama, Smith says they have “always been able to date” despite the busy music career. According to Page Six, they're believed to be dating New York City-based designer Christian Cowan.
Anyway, if Smith did have a dating profile, they now say they'd have to proclaim their love of their dog Velma in it.
“She taught me how to love,” said Smith. “I really feel like I don’t think I loved anyone other than my family and friends and stuff. She’s really taught me that. I miss her loads, by the way; I haven’t seen her in ages.”
