But will he be showing, ahem, coxswain?

Gay Olympic rower Robbie Manson has joined another team... OnlyFans. And we are ready to cheer him on!

Manson, who represented New Zealand in the 2012 and 2016 Games, and is now training for Paris 2024, dropped the news on his social media. “Okay, brace yourselves, because I’m about to drop some news that might raise a few eyebrows,” he began on Instagram. “I’ve joined OnlyFans! I can almost hear the gasps and raised eyebrows from here. But before you judge, hear me out!”

He continued explaining that while this (sadly) isn’t the beginning of his adult film career, it is an opportunity for him to express himself in new ways by sharing “artistic pictures that celebrate the human form in a tasteful and respectful manner,” he wrote. “Think of it as a highbrow gallery meets my rowing journey, sprinkled with a dash of cheekiness.”

As for why he made the move, Manson shared it’s both about “pushing boundaries and challenging norms” and earning additional income to support him while he pursues his passion and training as an athlete.

He shares that while the content won’t be explicit, there will be sensual as well as images that he hopes will promote body positivity and self-acceptance. Manson anticipates that some in his fandom may frown on his choice to join OnlyFans and to them he says he hopes they keep an open mind. “Let’s keep the judgment at bay and embrace this quirky adventure together,” he said. “I’m grateful for your support, your sense of humour, and your open minds as I strive for greatness both on and off the water.”

Manson isn’t the first Olympian to hop on OnlyFans. Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham also joined the platform earlier this year. As did divers Matty Lee, Daniel Goodfellow, and Matthew Dixon. It’s a trend we’re more than happy to see continue!
