If you’re hoping to hear all the salacious details of Raven-Symoné’s love life, too bad, because her partners won't be kissing and telling anytime soon — legally!
The Raven’s Home star opened up about her policy of having her romantic partners sign NDAs to keep the details of their romances just between them. "When I started dating, I had to get people to sign NDAs [non-disclosure agreements]," she revealed on the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast last week.
While initially she had some hesitation about requiring legal paperwork, Raven-Symoné eventually saw the need to do so "It took me a while to wrap my head around it, because it's just very impersonal. But someone in our position needs to do that," she shared.
As for when she expects the docs to be signed on the dotted line? "Before the naughty times come. I'm serious. Like, right, before naughty time comes," she dished, adding that paperwork offers all kinds of surprising protection. "Now, they have consent forms, to where they're like...'Are you okay with this? Can I do this? You can do this to me. That's a part of it now."
These days, the actor is happily married to her wife Miranda Pearman-Maday, but even she had to sign an NDA back when they were dating, although not right away. Raven-Symoné explained it was her mother pushing her to file the paperwork two months into the relationship that made the actor finally agree. “I was really reluctant," Raven-Symoné said. "Because I knew something was different about Miranda."
Also reluctant to sign was Pearman-Maday, who eventually agreed to for her future wife’s sake. "She did it for me because she knew that I was being pushed elsewhere, and she understood. But we both were like, this takes away the genuineness of it all," recalls Raven-Symoné.
And it wasn’t the last time that the two would protect themselves legally. When asked about a prenup, the actor said simply, "We have paperwork in place."
As for her previous relationships, Raven-Symoné talked briefly about her first relationship with a boy, explaining that it began in her early teens and lasted about seven years — she refrained from sharing further details because, you guessed it, there’s is an NDA in place "We just have a mutual understanding that we just don't talk about it,” she said.
As much as we love some dishy deets about our favorite stars, this is honestly so smart.
