We’re watching ‘Gran Turismo’ for the plot, of course!

A new heartthrob has arrived at the box office! This weekend finally topped the Barbie juggernaut, and it brought us a new cinematic crush.

Based on a true story, 2023’s Gran Turismo was a live-action cinematic adaptation based on the video game series of the same name. The film was directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Chappie) and cowritten by Jason Hall (American Sniper) and Zach Baylin (Creed III).

The Gran Turismo movie follows the story of Jann Mardenborough (played by Archie Madekwe), a gamer who goes on to become a professional race car driver. This star-studded cast also includes actors like Darren Barnet, David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Emelia Hartford, Sang Heon Lee, and Pepe Barroso, to name a few.

An up-and-coming actor who is certainly standing out in the cast of Gran Turismo is Barroso, who played Antonio Cruz in the film. Born in Spain, the actor moved to the US to attend college at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Prior to starring in Gran Turismo, Barroso appeared in TV shows like 45 rpm, High Seas, and Patria. He also appeared as the main love interest in Danna Paola’s music video for “Oye Pablo.”
