Neil Patrick Harris has been gracing our tv screens since he played a teenage doctor in Doogie Howser, M.D., but today the star is all grown up.
To celebrate turning 50 yesterday, Harris made us sweat by posting a topless selfie on Instagram with the caption, “Fifty. Let’s GO.”
Celebrities and fans alike took to the comment section to wish the actor a happy birthday and drool over his photo.
Cobie Smuders, Harris’ co-star on How I Met Your Mother, wrote, “What a stud. Love you.”
Red carpet interviewer Rye Myers commented, “DADDY! Hot damn! Happy birthday @nph! 50 never looked so good.”
“Happy 50th tiger,” wrote American Horror Story star Cheyenne Jackson.
One commenter wrote, “This is NOT helping my lifelong crush go away …”
Harries has been a fixture on TV for decades, winning five Primetime Emmy awards and playing memorable characters like Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother, Count Olaf on Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events, or the hilarious title character in Joss Whedon’s musical Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.
He's scored roles in films like Starship Troopers, Gone Girl, and last year’s The Matrix Resurrections and also devoted part of his career to acting on Broadway, even taking home a Tony award for his role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
Most recently he starred in Uncoupled, a gay rom-com about a man who is reentering the dating scene after his long-term partner leaves him. The series was recently picked up for a second season on Showtime after being canceled by Netflix.
Harris is also currently a judge on Hulu's campy drag competition show Drag Me To Dinner, which he’s producing with his husband David Burtka, 48.
Burtka made his own Instagram post commemorating Harris’ birthday with a photo of the couple together on a boat.
He captioned the post with a sweet message, “I can not believe you are 50!! Happy Birthday. You still look so damn hot. You continue to surprise me on how amazing you are. As we both grow older, our connection gets deeper and our love grows stronger. Let’s keep laughing through the next 50.”
