We still haven't recovered from Murray Bartlett's tear-jerking bottle episode of The Last of Us on Sunday but the Emmy Award-winning actor is already looking to the future! Or, er, the past.
Though the out, 51-year-old has been acting for decades, he's just now getting his flowers from the general public (though the gays have been stanning him for years), largely because of Mike White's satirical look at wealth and class on The White Lotus. On Season 1, Bartlett played the chaotic hotel manager Armond and won over the hearts of people all over the world, and snagged an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
But the actor isn't fully ready to let go of the anthology series yet - even after his character's untimely death. Bartlett expressed his desire to come back to the series on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, perhaps with a prequel?
"When we were shooting White Lotus, the night before we started shooting, we had this big dinner and Mike White, the creator, writer, director, extraordinaire of White Lotus, made a speech and said, sort of jokingly, whoever was the nicest person and the best actor gets a spinoff series."
Since his character gets axed, Bartlett chimed in, "So I was like ooo, ooo what about me!"
"And he said—and I'm not going to hold him to this—but he said, 'We could always go back in time.' So, I think maybe like an Armond origin story? I'm just throwing that out there."
Sounds like the idea is certainly not off the table...
Bartlett also talks about The Last Of Us, hiding his Emmy in his closet, losing pickle ball, and how he would survive a real-life zombie apocalypse.
