Sapphics may be cheering for Robin and Vickie’s (Amybeth McNulty) potential romance in season five of Stranger Things, but there’s one person who isn’t so sure about it. Maya Hawke who plays Robin, says she has mixed feelings about what the romance could mean for her character in the upcoming season.

Season four of the hit sci-fi series saw Robin and Vickie getting close while making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the survivors of The Underneath’s latest sinister salvo, leaving fans excited for the brewing romance.

During an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, however, Hawke said she doesn’t know how to feel about what that means for Robin. “I feel mixed about it,” the actor confessed. “It’s both a great thing, and I also love characters where their love life is not the center of their existence.”

Hawke explained that her worry comes down to what it could mean for the dynamic between her and Joe Keery’s character Steve Harrington. “That friendship with Steve is so special,” Hawke explained. “Friendships have been carrying me through my life, and I think they’re really important, and they deserve their time.”

Touche. But may we suggest doing both? While we never want to see less of the dynamic duo of Robin and Steve, there’s plenty of room for Robin to get up the mix, too.

Time will, but as for when we’ll see more of Robin, Vickie, and Steve, well the wait has likely gotten even longer as the recent writer’s strike is impacting the show’s production. Creators Matt and Ross Duffer broke the news to fans on Twitter.

“Duffers here,” they wrote. “Writing does not stop when filming begins. While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then — over and out. #wgastrong.”

One thing to look forward to when the show does resume production, is the exciting addition of ‘80s sci-fi icon Linda Hamilton in an as-of-yet unnamed role. Sounds like it's going to be worth the wait.
