After months of rumors swirling, Boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker have finally confirmed they’re dating!
Dacus put all the fan speculation to rest on March 17, when she opened up about her current relationship status in an interview with The New Yorker, where she said that the pair’s relationship is clear in her upcoming album Forever Is a Feeling.
“It’s been interesting, because I want to protect what is precious in my life, but also to be honest, and make art that’s true,” the 29-year-old artist told the publication. “I think maybe a part of it is just trusting that it’s not at risk. Maybe a healthier way to think about it is that it’s not actually fragile. These songs are about different people. But, you know, ‘Most Wanted Man in West Tennessee’ — what are you gonna do?”
Dacus also talked about being worried about sharing too much about her relationship, even though fans have largely been respectful of the boundaries she’s put up about her personal life. “It only takes a handful to make your life feel like a really easily threatened thing,” she said. “I’ve been practicing not reinforcing that narrative to myself.”
Dacus and Baker may have only just announced their romance, but they’ve been sharing swoon-worthy moments for years that had fans hoping and praying the two would one day fall in love.
