Kris Tyson is continuing to keep fans updated on her journey after going on hormone replacement therapy earlier this spring, and says she’s now “happier than ever.”
Taking to Instagram this week, Tyson shared that she’s been on HRT for six months, and that the changes have been more than just physical for her.
“The ability to get out of bed, ready to start the day, the desire to live my life to [the] fullest again, and just being able to look in the mirror and see the woman I’ve always known was inside me finally starting to make her way in the world,” she wrote on Instagram. “Every day living your life your own way is the best day ever day.”
Tyson is best known to many as a member of MrBeast’s YouTube channel. Back in April, fans spotted an image of her in one of the videos that looked different from what they were used to, prompting her to acknowledge that she had been on HRT for two months.
However, the co-host only officially came out as trans in late July, sharing that she’s changed the spelling of her name and adopted she/her pronouns.
“For the longest time, even to say it to some of the closest friends, it would make my hands shake. I would get so nervous,” she told YouTuber Anthony Padilla. “But now, I can say I'm a woman. I'm happy to say I'm a woman. It's something that's honestly so freeing.”
With trans people constantly under attack on social media and via bills being pushed by Republicans across the United States, it’s more important than ever for them to share their stories like Tyson is now doing on her social media—and for the rest of us to actually listen.
And MrBeast, aka James Donaldson, has at least made a point to defend Tyson against the “absurd” transphobic trolls that started popping up after attention was first drawn to her gender journey.
“[Kris] isn’t my ‘nightmare’ [she’s] my fucken friend and things are fine,” he said in response to a video denouncing their continued professional relationship. “All this transphobia is starting to piss me off.”
