Jordan Firstman shot to fame during the pandemic lockdown when the comedic skits he started posting to Instagram went viral.
Since then he’s been leaving viral fame behind in favor of acting. He has a role in the MCU series Ms Marvel and plays a heightened version of himself in the film Rotting in the Sun which just hit streaming.
“It’s important to me that people know I don’t take myself that seriously,” Firstman said of playing a character based on him in an interview with the Gay Times. “It was hard doing it on set because I’m like, ‘How far do I actually go?’ and I am telling people something about myself, even if it’s fictionalized. So, how far do I take it but also honor the story? But also, not completely fuck up my image completely?”
In Rotting in the Sun, director Sebastian Silva also plays a version of himself who meets social media celebrity Jordan Firstman at a gay nude beach and reluctantly agrees to work on his new project.
A lot has been said about the nudity and sex scenes in this meta comedy—including multiple instances of unsimulated oral sex and pixelated genitals appearing on some of the promotional materials for the film—but there is also a lot of social commentary and heart at the center of the film.
Leave it to the 32-year-old actor to make light of these scenes in the interview. When asked how many d*cks there would be in his next film, he answered, “I will have ‘won’ my career if I can suck d*ck in Marvel. That’s when I can retire.”
Firstman explained that he’d want to give Mark Ruffalo’s the Hulk a blow job. “I will retire the next day and no one will ever have to hear my annoying voice ever again,” he said.
Rotting in the Sun is now available to stream on Mubi.
