Jonathan Majors and Glen Powell went to a bathhouse and got naked together. No, that’s not just in headcanon, it really happened.
In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star recalled the hot and steamy meeting where they first discussed what would become their upcoming Korean War biopic, Devotion.
“Pretty standard procedure: you have a meeting, you know, say, ‘Hey, you want to be in the movie?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, we could. Love to try it.’ After the director, the next thing is to meet with Glen Powell who’s also our executive producer,” recalled Majors. “I go, ‘Yeah, man, let’s go to the Russian Turkish bathhouse.’”
Majors recalls seeing Powell arrive at the bathhouse. “He showed up looking like a million bucks, like Hangman [inTop Gun: Maverick], with those piercing blue eyes and that brilliant smile,” he recounted. “And I walked him into the ninth circle of hell... Completely naked.”
Majors explained he wanted to see what the vibe would be like between the two of them, calling the meeting more of an “audition of friendship and camaraderie.” The two are set to star as Jesse Brown (Majors), the first African-American Naval officer, and Tom Hudner Jr. (Powell), his wingman, who shared a close bond in real life.
“We talked about the story and the relationship between Tom Hudner, who was Jesse Brown’s wingman,” Majors continued. “And we sweated it out, we took a handshake, and then we went to the Ludlow House and had a few mezcals.”
The meeting went well and Devotion is set to premiere in theaters on Nov. 23. But to be honest, we wouldn’t mind getting a peek at that bathhouse footage.
