Jennifer Coolidge has been named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2023 – and it's well-deserved!
In the last year, Coolidge won an Outstanding Supporting Actress Emmy for her character arc on White Lotus and also reemerged has a prominent figure in the public consciousness. She also starred in Netflix's hit series The Watcher.
In Time's profile of the living legend, who is perhaps most known as Paulette in Legally Blonde and Stifler's mom in 1999's American Pie, her Watcher costar Mia Farrow shared an account of Coolidge asking her to physically fight.
The profile begins:
“'Let’s make a video where you and I are beating the sh-t out of each other,' Jennifer Coolidge texted me one night a few months ago. '… Does that seem too desperate???'”
Farrow expresses her adoration for Coolidge, and "When she left for Sicily to make the second season of The White Lotus, I missed her."
When Coolidge returned stateside, Farrow notes that "Adoration for Jennifer, initially led by discerning cinephiles and, of course, the gay community, was now everywhere."
So true, bestie! The gays do love some Jennifer Coolidge!
Farrow concludes her tribute with the kindest of words. "She is uncompromisingly, exquisitely herself. Jennifer’s honesty and kindness make her a friend anyone would be lucky to have."
And Farrow's more than ready for what will surely be an iconic throwdown. "I’ve got tufts of fake hair and ketchup to stand in for blood at the ready," she says. "Who wouldn’t want to be beat up by Jennifer Coolidge? She’s a national treasure."
Perhaps we'll get a showdown on season two of The Watcher? Or perhaps the two will come up with their own show to have a smackdown on. Regardless, we hope Ryan Murphy is listening and is ready to make this happen!
