Jamie Lee Curtis took a moment during the press cycle of Halloween Ends to talk about the death threats her trans daughter has faced in the past and is still facing.
During an interview with Cadena SER, Curtis detailed all of the real-world fears she experiences that have helped her performances as Laurie Strode in the Halloween franchise.
“I have a trans daughter,” the actress noted. “There are threats against her life, just her existence as a human being. There are people that want to annihilate her, and people like her.”
Curtis then drew a parallel between transphobia and fascism, noting: “Like we haven’t learned what the result of that is. The extermination of human beings. That is terrifying.”
You can watch Curtis’ interview below.
Curtis’ daughter, Ruby, disclosed that she was a trans woman in 2021. Since then, the Halloween Ends actress has continued to be incredibly supportive of her daughter.
Namely, Curtis celebrated Ruby’s birthdays on social media with incredibly sweet posts, has spoken on behalf of LGBTQ+ rights, and even officiated Ruby’s wedding with her now-wife, Cynthia.
It is awful that Ruby has been facing death threats, but Curtis is calling it out and making sure that these transphobic haters know she’s keeping an eye on them.
Halloween Ends is currently in theaters.
