HBO’s House of the Dragon may have stirred up a lasting impact among the LGBTQ+ community — but not because of the show itself.
Last month, HBO Max dropped a promotional video in which stars Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy, who play Alicent Hightower and Rhaenyra Targaryen, respectively, ask one another questions so that the audience can get to know them better. It’s a cute video highlighting both their personalities and how well their dynamic functions both on and off screen.
But an unexpected viral moment came out of Cooke asking D’Arcy, what their drink of choice is.
“A negroni,” they replied. “Sblagiato. With prosecco in it.”
“Ooh, stunning,” said Cooke.
@hbomax I'll take one of each. #houseofthedragon
It’s not the drink itself that captured the attention of queer people across the internet, but the way D’Arcy delivered the response.

It seems many of us had no clue what this drink was prior to D’Arcy uttering the words that shook a nation (of sapphics), but now everyone is learning both how to pronounce it and even to make it, thanks to viral TikToks popping up in response.
Additionally, people are already sending their apologies to all of the bartenders who are about to suffer for this negroni explosion.
