We really miss watching Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock!

Charlie Cox made a name for himself with roles like Tristan Thorn in Stardust, Owen Sleater on Boardwalk Empire, and Jonathan Hellyer Jones in The Theory of Everything. Then, in 2015, Cox became a worldwide sensation as he played Matt Murdock in the Marvel Studios series Daredevil, which initially streamed on Netflix and subsequently moved to Disney+.

In many ways, Daredevil set up a street-level Marvel superhero universe that also included shows such as Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher. Ultimately, those shows led up to the crossover series The Defenders.

In July 2022, Marvel Studios announced a Daredevil: Born Again reboot for Disney+ that will feature Cox playing the titular character and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising his role as archnemesis Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin. However, a new update from October 11, 2023 reported that the reboot series is completely resetting production (via The Hollywood Reporter).

According to the report, Daredevil: Born Again paused production in June 2023 due to the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. At the time, “fewer than half of the series’ 18 episodes had been shot.” Upon reviewing that initial batch of episodes, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige determined that the showrunners had “crafted a legal procedural that did not resemble the Netflix version.” In fact, Cox reportedly didn’t get into his Daredevil costume up until episode four.

As a result, the new Daredevil reboot for Disney+ has been delayed once again – which makes us miss watching Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock even more!
