Let Andy Cohen celebrate Pride in peace!
Fans rushed to the Bravo host’s defense after a video of him at NYC Pride went viral sparking criticism of Cohen’s behavior.
Someone secretly filmed Cohen at a gay club — from underneath a table so as not to get caught — while he was playing with the nipple of a shirtless man who was sitting in his lap.
The footage of this intimate moment quickly went viral on Instagram prompting responses across social media, including a TikToker who made a video giving Andy side eye for his romp at Pride and Twitter users critical of him having a supposed “private” moment in public.
First of all, let the man have some privacy. Second of all, everyone appears to be a consenting adult. Third of all, you’re criticizing a gay man for being gay at a Pride event! We call, homophobia!
Are people new? Have you never been to Pride before? There are always going to be half-naked queer people celebrating freely and openly — that’s kind of the point.
Thankfully people came to the 55-year-old star’s defense. “What happened to @Andy makes me mad as hell,” a fan wrote on Twitter. “Filming someone without their consent is F'd up, to begin with. Can't enjoy life outside the house anymore. People act like spies for attention & Views. In Mob World, we call them #RATS”
“Andy sorry this is happening! But I am jealous it wasn’t me on your lap…ijs,” someone quipped.
Another fan rightly pointed out that Pride is supposed to be a place where the LGBTQ+ community can gather and celebrate in peace, “Justice for Andy Cohen!!! Let him do gay shit at pride in peace. It’s supposed safe space for EVERYONE so whoever put this online is absolute trash”
Some Twitter users even took to the Watch What Happens Live host’s defense, despite not being his biggest fan. “I hate to defend Andy Cohen of all people but secretly recording people is corny as fuck,” one person commented. “So it’s a gay man being gay, why is this newsworthy? Please touch grass.”
TikTok users also fired back at the person who took the original video footage and those critical of Cohen. @Dylan.horner called the secretly filmed video "problematic and gross" and told the person who took the footage to "grow the f**k up."
Cohen has yet to officially respond to this ridiculous scandal, but has thanked several fans who defended him on Twitter.
Everyone needs to go touch grass and then quickly get a life.
