Video: Illinois Wants You to Vote Naked for LGBT Rights

There has never been a better reason to wear your birthday suits. The Vote Naked Illinois Campaign has released a very enticing “get out the vote” video encouraging men and women to vote from the newly-appointed mail ballots…in their birthday suits.

There has never been a better reason to wear your birthday suits. The Vote Naked Illinois Campaign has released a very enticing “get out the vote” video encouraging men and women to vote from the newly-appointed mail ballots…in their birthday suits.

The new ad showcases both men and women completely naked with only an object or two covering their…private areas…for censorship purposes. Below is the latest pro-active gesture on display from Equality Illinois

The new voting rules stipulate that registered voters in the state of Illinois can submit absentee ballots as early as September 23, 2010 and turn in their ballots at early voting locations between October 11, 2010 and October 28, 2010. The general election will be held on November 2, 2010.

Illinois Incumbent Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn runs against Republican opponent state Sen. Bill Brady in a very important race for LGBT equality. Quinn remains solid in his support of civil unions legislation, yet has failed to show support for full marriage equality. Quinn says he will sign civil unions legislation. Brady opposes both same-sex marriage and civil unions and even favors an amendment to the Illinois constitution banning equal marriage rights for LGBT citizens.

CEO of Equality Illinois Education Project Bernard Cherkasov said, “It is imperative that Illinois voters cast their ballots this November, regardless of how they vote or where; and we’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen. It is so easy to vote in privacy of one’s own home, one can even do it naked.”

“We are proud that Roosevelt University is involved in this innovative campaign to encourage people to exercise their right to vote,” said Kevin Hauswirth, Director, Advertising and Promotions. “Roosevelt’s Student Government Association is taking a leadership role by engaging young people and helping them understand the importance of having a voice in government.”

Rock the Vote’s Heather Smith said, "We know that young people are highly engaged this election cycle and this new law in Illinois makes it easier for them to vote. We're supporting this spirited awareness campaign so that young people will get excited about the midterm elections and share the experience with their friends.”

According to the Equlity Illinois mission statement:

Equality Illinois was founded in 1992 to secure, protect and defend the basic civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Illinoisans. Founders of the Chicago-based organization are activists Rick Garcia, Arthur Johnston and the late Jon Henri Damski and Lana Hostetler (all of whom played key roles in the 1988 passage of Chicago's Human Rights Ordinance.
