Sources tell SheWired.comthat word came down Friday afternoon that OurChart.comwill be shutting off all content effective immediately. The social networking site launched in 2006 and was born out of the hugely successful Showtime seriesThe L Word.
Editor Grace Moon notified the staff of contributors and bloggers via e-mail on Friday afternoon.
Moon said in the e-mail that the entire staff had been let go and that Friday would be her last day.
According to the e-mail, the site will remain online but no new editorial content will be posted.
The site was the brainchild of Showtime and L Word creator Ilene Chailken and figured prominently into several episodes. L Word stars Jennifer Beals, Leisha Hailey and Kate Moennig were attached to the site at its outset. According to sources, the announcement came as a complete surprise to the staff.
The site sought to compete with the Logo run AfterEllen.com .
Staff members at OurChart.com could not be reached for comment late Friday afternoon.
