Female boxing champ Christy Martin told police that her husband James Martin shot and stabbed her last week when she told him she was leaving him for another woman, TMZ is reporting from having obtained copies of the police report.
According to the report, Christy had been staying at a hotel for several days before she went home to inform her husband James that she was in a relationship with a woman named Sherry, and that she intended to leave the marriage. Christy told police that he tried to shoot her and stab her before she escaped and flagged down help.
Police arrested James in Florida Tuesday after he had allegedly tried to stab himself. He was wielding a knife and surrendered after a short standoff with police, according to TMZ.
James also threatened to ruin his wife’s successful boxing career over the lesbian affair, and said he would release incriminating videos of her on YouTube, Christy told police.
Christy is recovering from her injuries, which are not life threatening, according to her rep.
