Following the critical success of the gay drama Call Me By Your Name, actor Timotheé Chalamet and director Luca Guadagnino have reunited for the stirring new coming-of-age romance/horror film, Bones and All.

According to IndieWire, Guadagnino has dubbed the film a “cannibal love story” which feels ironic considering the Armie Hammer headlines as of late. Hammer is nowhere to be found in the electric trailer though, which sees Chalamet brustling through the countryside alongside Waves star Taylor Russell – and leaving a bloody trail behind them.

"The film is a story of first love between Maren (Russell), a young woman learning how to survive on the margins of society, and Lee (Chalamet), an intense and disenfranchised drifter, as they meet and join together for a thousand-mile odyssey which takes them through the back roads, hidden passages, and trap doors of Ronald Reagan’s America. While Maren and Lee lust for blood (and each other), all roads seem to lead back to their terrifying pasts and a final stand that will determine whether their love can survive their otherness.”

The film is an adaption of Camille DeAngelis’ bloody novel of the same name. According to Collider, it premiered earlier this month at the Venice Film Festival to an eight-and-a-half-minute standing ovation. “It was a relief to play characters who are wrestling with an internal dilemma absent the ability to go on Reddit or Twitter or Instagram or TikTok and figure out where they fit in," Chalamet said in a panel at the festival, citing that it’s “tough to be alive now” and that he feels “a societal collapse in the air.”
