Shop to the Cause: Where to buy RED on World AIDS Day
With 650 babies born everyday with HIV/AIDS, World AIDS Day brings to light a discussion that should never be in the shadows. This is a disease that infects and affects all kinds of people in all walks of life. With approximately 1.1 million people living with HIV/AIDS in the United States, this disease is also still so relevant close to home. Even closer still, the disease has a particularly strong importance to the LGBT community, as today we take time to remember the remarkable history of LGBT activists like Act Up NYC who fought so hard during the Reagan administration for access to HIV/AIDS drug treatments, hospital beds, and universal healthcare for not just LGBT, but for straight women, for children, for everyone.
We've come a long way since then, and supporting the movement now comes in so many ways. One of these ways is shopping Red with Red.org, an organization whose primary focus is simple: eliminating AIDS so that we may have the next generation entirely without it.
As the website reads, "(RED) can't accomplish this alone. It will take all of us to get there - governments, health organizations, companies, and you. When you DO THE (RED) THING, a (RED) partner will give up some of its profits to fight AIDS."
So here it is, some stylish offerings that you can get or gift, that will make a direct impact, in the form of healthcare in the worldwide fight to end AIDS.
