These Realistic Dolls Will Blow Your Mind
Most celebrity dolls look fake AF, but they don't have to be that way. Alabama artist Cyrus, better known as Cyguy, creates pint-size replicas of some of the biggest stars in the world, and they're remarkably realistic. From fabulous celebrities like Beyoncé to captivating characters like Lady Gaga's Countess, Cyrus's imitations of life are in a league of their own.
Cyrus's connection with dolls goes way back. When he was a child, his mother embraced his love for dolls. "My mother was and is amazing,” he says. "She always encouraged me to play with whatever toy I wanted. And if anybody had a problem with that, she was a force to be reckoned with."
Of his inspirations, he says, "There will be a public figure that truly inspires me. And my goal is to make [the doll] as accurate as possible." Creating each piece requires a sharp eye for detail and dedication. Each doll takes him about six weeks to complete, but the effort he puts in shows in the final product. Although he enjoys making the dolls, the project is more than a hobby for Cyrus. Nearly every doll is for sale, and most are commissioned. His clients include Mariah Carey and Belinda Carlisle as well as collectors around the world.
Although he takes special orders, there are a few people who are simply not worthy of his talents. "I won't make dolls of people who I don't have a positive influence on this world," he says. "Someone just asked me to make a Kellyanne Conway doll. I declined."
