The mother of Twilight actress Kristen Stewart tells London tabloid the Sunday Mirror her daughter has a new relationship — with another woman — and has her blessing.
"I accept my daughter loves women and men."
According to Jules Stewart, who also works in Hollywood as a script supervisor, her daughter is dating her personal assistant, Alicia Cargile, and says the couple are very happy together.
A few of her supportive quotes from the interview:
“I’ve met Kristen’s new girlfriend, I like her. What’s not to accept? She’s a lovely girl.”
“I feel like people need to be free to love whoever they want.”
“What’s not to be accepting about her now having a girlfriend? She’s happy.”
“She’s my daughter, I’m just her mom so she knows I would accept her choices.”
"It's OK to be who you are in my world. We all choose our friends so we should be free to choose our lovers.”
“People are good to do whatever they like as long as they’re not hurting people or breaking the law.”
“I have gay friends, family members, I’m accepting of people, we are all free to choose who we want to love.”
Kristen Stewart, 25, split from long-term love Robert Pattinson, 29, two years ago. Her break-up with Pattinson made headlines after paparazzi photographed her kissing Rupert Sanders, 44, the married man who directed her in Snow White and the Huntsman.
The paparazzi hadn't given her any privacy on her relationship with Cargile either. There are everyday photos of them getting coffee together, or out shopping. Then came the photos of them cuddled together and kissing on a Hawaii beach that made headlines in Radar and elsewhere in January. That was followed by similar private photos in the Daily Mail and other media of the couple holding hands during a visit to the second weekend of the Coachella music festival in California.
During an interview with HuffPost Live this year, Kristen Stewart was asked indirectly about the photos and criticized the media, saying only, "There’s a whole other form of entertainment that’s just voraciously consumed in itself."
