Girls creator Lena Dunham reaffirmed her promise that she would not marry her boyfriend — Fun singer Jack Antonoff — until marriage equality becomes a reality in every state across the country.
“We’re not against marriage, but I want to wait until it’s something — my sister’s gay and it just doesn’t feel good to me to do something she can’t do. She can do it in some places but not all places,” the actress said during a recent radio interview with Howard Stern.
Dunham began wearing a diamond ring last year but denied she and Antonoff were engaged when she was questioned about it, vowing at the time that she would not marry until same-sex couples had the same right in all 50 states.
In addition to creating the hit TV series Girls, Dunham has been busy crafting additional LGBT-inclusive entertainment.
She announced last month that she working on a documentary series that tells the story of a suitmaker who designs clothing with transgender people in mind.
The series, which will run on HBO, is titled Three Suits and highlights the New York tailor Bindle & Keep, which has earned respect among New York’s LGBT population for its trans-friendly practice.
