5. MUSIC: Tati Ana’s new video, “Cold Water”
I have to wait until early 2014 to get Tati Ana’s new EP Crescent, but I can’t get enough of Moscow-born singer's second single, "Cold Water" — or more specifically, the new video for it. Think hauntingly beautiful vocals, (part indie rock, part classical piano and electro synth) meets creepy, sexy wandering blue lady hands in the music video. In it Ani (born Tatiana Kochkareva) remains straight-faced, singing in her unique Nina Simone meets Florence Welch style, all while women’s hands, covered in blue paint, touch the performer erotically. It’s creepy, but good. See for yourself below.
4. EVENT: Bust Magazine Holiday Craftacular and Food Fair
The cutting-edge women’s pop-culture magazine once again sponsors a New York shopping event offering the best and quirkiest of handmade items — jewelry, cosmetics, hats, toys, and more from more than 270 vendors. There’s also plenty of food to be had, plus a raffle for big-ticket items, lessons in various crafts, and music by DJs Ali Gruber, A Good Lhooq, and others. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W. 18th St., in the Chelsea neighborhood. 3. FILM: Jupiter Ascending
The latest, much-anticipated effort from transgender writer-director Lana Wachowski and her brother, Andy, won’t hit theaters until July, but the first trailer is out now. The sci-fi adventure stars sexy Mila Kunis, of Black Swan fame, as a potential “queen of the universe;” Channing Tatum, Eddie Redmayne, and Sean Bean costar. Watch the trailer below.
2. COMEDY: Deadline: The Nikki Finke Story
Funny or Die takes on the story of Hollywood blogger Nikki Finke in this parody trailer starring Jean Smart in the title role and Drew Fuller as her arch-nemesis Jay Penske, and featuring a hilarious turn by Christina Applegate trying to play Billie Jean King in a movie. Check it out below.
