Let’s try to keep it together, dear Drag Race fandom.
Diehard fans had quite passionate reactions to the eliminations on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs the World earlier this year. As a result, the UK queens competing on Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs. the World are asking fans to have more fun with this new season.
Drag Race UK season three stars Vanity Milan and Victoria Scone are about to embark on their televised journeys on Canada vs. the World, but they want to remind fans that it’s not personal, it’s just drag. “We’re drag queens and we’re here to entertain you,” Milan told the Gay Times. “It’s a television show. Don’t take it too seriously, hun. It’s just a TV show that we filmed a year ago.”
Scone added, “I’m excited to watch it because I can’t remember a bloody thing that happened. Tune in to find out!”
Milan and Scone will be competing alongside other global drag superstars such as Anita Wigl’it (Drag Race Down Under season one), Icesis Couture (Canada’s Drag Race season two), Kendall Gender (Canada’s Drag Race season two), Ra’Jah O’Hara (Drag Race season 11; All Stars 6), Rita Baga (Canada’s Drag Race season one), Silky Nutmeg Ganache (Drag Race season 11; All Stars 6), and Stephanie Prince (Canada’s Drag Race season two).
Even though Milan and Scone are competing against Canada’s Drag Race queens on a Canadian show, and against season 11 queens on a series judged by season 11 runner-up Brooke Lynn Hytes, the Drag Race UK stars don’t think that there was any preferential treatment given to those contestants. “There couldn’t be any tomfoolery, it would get clocked straight away in my opinion,” Milan explained during the interview. “I don’t think there was any of that at all. I’d like to think it was fair game.”
Scone agreed with Milan, noting: “In the words of Gemma Collins, ‘I ain’t threatened, hun.’ It’s a competition at the end of the day and they didn’t hold precedence against like, ‘Because you’re Canadian, we hold you to a certain standard.’”
In the words of RuPaul, we can’t wait to see how this turns out!
