Formerly known as Tyra Sanchez – the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race season two – James Ross has been arrested a second time on Thursday, July 6.

This second arrest took place in Starke, Florida following a series of protests from Ross as a result of his first arrest. In a report, Entertainment Weekly provided further details regarding the arrest and a quote from chief of police Jeff Johnson.

“We’ve arrested James William Ross. He came out and was in his little outfit, and he had the police sign, hanging it up and showing and dancing,” Johnson told the publication. “He was in a little G-string with a black bra on. It still was within the ‘freedom of speech’ category. The problem we had was it was in an intersection within a construction zone, but it wasn’t really causing a traffic problem.”

The chief of police added that Ross went home and then returned to the scene with “a big old dildo.” Johnson explained, “He comes back out on the road and starts shaking it, and that’s when people started stopping and cussing at him, and causing a traffic problem. It was bad from there on.”

This year, Ross made a comeback as a drag performer under the new stage name King Tyra. He also announced a world tour, titled Club Tyra, which reportedly includes dates in Washington, D.C., London, New Orleans, New York City, Boston, Toronto, Columbus, Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles between the months of July and September 2023.

Ever since his first arrest, however, Ross shifted focus to sharing a series of protests against Starke P.D. on social media. According to the EW report, Ross is “currently being detained in a holding cell in jail” and “is expected to be booked imminently.”

We hope this situation gets resolved as quickly as possible and Ross can keep being the creative force he has been for so many years.
