It’s no secret that fans and queens weren’t thrilled about the first-ever season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, where contestants were forced to pair up in teams (while they were already in the werk room) in order to compete. While that idea could be interesting, the general execution just didn’t land.
So here’s our pitch: what if Drag Race had another season of competing pairs, but one that had actual best friends teaming up to compete together on the show? They would know the teaming-up format in advance so they could prepare properly, and there would be no risk of anybody getting stuck in a team with someone that they barely knew.
With so many best friends from the Drag Race universe collaborating on a wide variety of projects, appearing on other shows together, and traveling all over the world as a duo, we’re more than ready to fan-cast an all-BFFs season of All Stars!
Scroll through to see which queens we’d cast in an all-BFFs season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars.

Over the years, season four wild child Willam got very close to season five runner-up and All Stars 2 winner Alaska. Their direct connection started out with a girl band, The AAA Girls, and turned into the Race Chaser podcast. Then, their friendship evolved into a podcasting empire through the Moguls of Media (MOM) umbrella of multimedia shows. Needless to say, we can only imagine what these two branding geniuses could do together in an All Stars season of duos.

Two-time Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon is no stranger to winning challenges on the show. Neither is BenDeLaCreme, who killed it in season six and steamrolled the competition on All Stars 3. As very close friends and collaborators, Jinkx and DeLa could be a hard-to-beat team if they were to compete together on All Stars. They have years of experience working together and could definitely put their chemistry in full display during a season like this!

While it may seem like season seven winner Violet Chachki and season 13 finalist Gottmik are from very different generations of Drag Race, these two fierce queens are absolutely two peas in a pod. If they competed together on an all-BFFs season of All Stars, their competitors would be absolutely shook anytime Mama Ru threw in a fashion, runway, or design challenge. Violet and Gottmik have also proven that they’ve got the performance chops, making this NoGorge duo pretty unstoppable.

Trixie Mattel and Katya became two of the most popular Drag Race queens of all time after appearing in season seven and respectively competing on All Stars 3 and All Stars 2 in the years that followed. Together, Trixie and Katya have published books, launched web shows, released music, cohosted podcasts, and toured all over the world, just to name a few. The combined power between these two superstars would be a major threat to competitors – and a huge treat to fans – in an All Stars season of best friends.

Kim Chi and Naomi Smalls already knew each other from social media prior to competing in season eight of Drag Race. During the competition, however, they became very close friends and ended up working on numerous tours and projects together over the years. As a potential duo on All Stars, Kim and Naomi would be absolute frontrunners who’d bring in their years of drag experience and a bulletproof friendship.

In and out of their Sibling Rivalry podcast, Bob the Drag Queen and Monét X Change have been incredibly close friends and regular collaborators on a wide variety of projects – so much so that they were even featured together in an episode of The Simpsons. Between creating joint content, releasing musical collaborations, creating the BOMO Beauty makeup company, and going on the road together, Bob and Monét have everything it would take to snatch the crown in an all-BFFs season of All Stars.

Jaida Essence Hall and Heidi N Closet met during season 12 of Drag Race. Since then, they developed a really strong bond and even cohosted a podcast together titled Hall & Closet. Jaida won season 12 and returned to compete on the all-winners edition of All Stars 7, whereas Heidi was crowned Miss Congeniality in season 12 and was unfortunately pushed to quit All Stars 8. As a competing duo, these queens would be reality TV gold and strong contenders for basically every single maxi challenge on the show.

Season 13 winner Symone and season 12 runner-up Gigi Goode are not only both members of the House of Avalon, but they’re also very close friends. Since being on the show, Symone and Gigi have been attending high-profile fashion shows, getting featured in campaigns, and taking over the world. When it comes to Drag Race, they each won four maxi challenges during their respective seasons, which would immediately make them a force to be reckoned with.

Many fans were shipping a potential showmance between Denali and Rosé over the course of Drag Race season 13. Alas, truth be told, they were more like close friends who served as huge support systems for each other. Both Denali and Rosé are incredibly driven, talented, ambitious, and resourceful. Though they didn’t win the season 13 crown, it would be very exciting to see these queens returning for an All Stars season… and even more so if they had the chance to compete as a duo.
World of Wonder
Canada’s Drag Race season one superstars Priyanka and Lemon would absolutely slay in an All Stars season of BFFs. Just imagine the girl groups challenge, their Rumix verses, and the Reading challenge reads that we’d get from these two! This would also bring international representation to a flagship season of All Stars, which is always an exciting element for the competition.
