Bisexual rapper Doechii is on her way to the Grammy Awards in 2025 as a three-time nominee and has exploded onto the scene in 2024 as one of the hottest new acts around.

Her 2024 album, Alligator Bites Never Heal, firmly established the “What It Is” singer into the limelight. Known for being bold, brazen, and willing to tell it like it is, it’s clear she has her sights set on Megan thee Stallion-type fame, and she’s well on her way.

Apart from being an incredible talent, Doechii is also part of the queer fam, as she openly identifies as bi and is currently in a relationship with a woman. In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, both Doechii’s girlfriend and her bisexuality came up during a conversation about on of the tracks from Alligator Bites, “Denial is a River.”

While discussing her journey to sobriety, Doechii said of the track, “I don’t think I was ever lying to myself. I titled it that because I was dealing with somebody who was lying to themselves, but anyways…”

Though she initially drifted, Doechii eluded the reference to “that quote” from Wendy Williams, where she’d said at one point on her show, “Denial is a river in Egypt… Your husband is gay!”

From there, Doechii went on to detail how a former boyfriend of hers had cheated on her with another man, with focus on the problem being that he cheated and not who he cheated with after host Charlemagne tha God asked her how she dealt with finding out.

“You also could have let me know upfront what your style was,” she said. “I’m bisexual. That’s cool. I’ve dated a bisexual men. No problem. Let me know what it is upfront. I’ll accept you for who you are, it doesn’t matter. I think it’s, like, the cheating on top of lying and secrecy about just who you are as a person.”

When fellow host DJ Envy noted society thought it was “different” when it was a man with another man, saying, “In this world, it’s OK for a woman to be with another woman, but for a man to be with another man, people look at that differently in a bisexual relationship."

Doechii interrupted and put him in his place. “Absolutely not,” she said. “I don’t see it that way, I really don’t. I think sexuality is fluid, and I really don’t give a damn.”

“Because then that’s contradicting,” agreed host Jess Hilarious.

“It is,” said Doechii. “How could I sit up here and be bisexual and then be like, ‘Oh, no, he can’t be.’ Girl, whatever.”

This opened up Jess Hilarious to ask about Doechii’s girlfriend, saying it was “wonderful” to be in the relationship.

Tune into the Grammys on February 2, 2025, to see if Doechii takes home the Best New Act Award over Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter, or if she wins in either the Best Rap Performance or Best Rap Album categories.
