11 Reasons Your Next Boyfriend Should Be a Singer

I know you think you can sing, but I’m talking about a real, talented singer.

A lot of gay men think they can sing (sorry honey, you really can’t), so when you manage to meet an actually talented singer, dig your claws deep into his flesh, and never let him go.

Here are 11 reasons why your next boyfriend should be a singer.

1. They’re performers

If their job is to sing, then they definitely know how to perform, and dating a performer can come in handy. First, they can steer any unwanted attention away from you. Second, everyone will always like them.

2. They karaoke the sh*t out of life

Singers take karaoke seriously (maybe a little bit too seriously), but don’t let them intimidate you. Sing your heart out next to them and demand duets. Best karaoke duet songs: "Ain’t No Mountain High Enough," "(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life," and — if you’re drunk enough — "No Air."

3. Oh, and they can serenade you

Imagine this. You're cuddling with him in bed, and he's petting your hair. All the while, he's singing to you in a beautiful falsetto. Nothing in the world is better than your man serenading you with his angelic voice.

4. It’s the best party trick

They’ll do that thing where they’re like, no, no I could never sing in front of a grou—LAAAAAA!!!!!

5. They perform well under pressure

They can easily handle meeting your parents. They won't be nervous to meet your friends. They can always step up to the plate.

6. They have constant energy

Singers are like the energizer bunny. They just keep going and going and going. You think they're done, but next thing you know, they're singing a secret verse to a song you thought you knew.

7. They can open their mouths wide and have ridiculous breath control

I thought this was important to note (no pun intended). Do what you want with this bit of information.

8. They can commit

When he’s a singer, an actual singer who’s been trained and works on his craft, he can commit. He’s motivated. He works towards his goals, and he’ll work hard on his relationship with you.

9. They’re confident

Singers are confident, often bordering on arrogant and at times, even narcissistic. But if you got it, flaunt it. They’ve honed their craft and they’re proud of themselves. Let them be proud!

10. They can make up song lyrics about their love for you

Not only can they make up lyrics, they can substitute your name into love songs. And yes, it is the cutest thing in the world. My dad has written a song for my mom for their anniversary every year for the past 35. It is ADORABLE.

11. You can sing show tunes together

There are few things better in life than singing Wicked with your boyfriend while you're both driving in the car. Don't worry, his beautiful voice will mask yours while you shriek at the tops of your lungs.
