Tinder Just Made a Big Move Toward Gender Inclusivity

Bye bye, binary. #AllTypesAllSwipes

With the hashtag #AllTypesAllSwipes, Tinder unveiled an update to its app today allowing for greater diversity in gender options for its users.

"Everyone is welcome on Tinder," the company wrote on its blog.

The update isn't currently available on the App Store, but according to Tinder's blog post, the change will be available "starting today."

In order to ensure the app met its users needs, Tinder collaborated with members of the Transparent family, including producer Zachary Drucker, writer Lady J, and actress Trace Lysette, as well as Nick Adams and Alex Schimder from GLAAD's Transgender Media Program.

"This is just one step in our efforts to make Tinder a more inclusive community," Tinder wrote in its blog post. "We welcome your feedback and are committed to making Tinder the best platform for meeting new people – for everyone."

So, lovelies, if you notice anything that could be improved or experience any harassment, make sure to report it.

Here are instructions on how to change your gender on Tinder once the update is released:

"To edit or add more information about your gender on Tinder, simply edit your profile. When you tap 'I Am' and select 'More' you can type a word that describes your gender identity. You can also select to be shown in searches which best reflect your identity. All users have the option to display their gender on their profile, as well."

I am 'More'. Not 'Other'. I like that.

Watch Tinder's video about the change below, and happy swiping.
