Levi Davis is publicly opening about his sexuality, coming out to the sports world as bisexual.
In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old rugby star (who used to play for the Bath team and who made an appearance as a contestant on Celebrity X Factor) revealed that he came out to his teammates via a group text thread in WhatsApp, making history as the first professional union rugby player to come out as bisexual, PinkNews reports.
"I had hidden it well but I couldn’t keep it secret any longer," he said about the decision to come out to his teammates. "I had to tell them, all of them, not just a few. I didn’t want it to turn into Chinese whispers. So, on the spur of the moment, I put it on our WhatsApp group."
Luckily, his fellow rugby players were supportive AF and sent him messages back that ranged from 'Mate, we support you,' to 'You’re really brave,' to 'This changes nothing,' and 'Fair play to you.'
"Then they began taking the p*** in a good-natured way, which I was relieved about," Davis continued. "If they had been too tender-hearted, I would have been worried. I’m still a rugby player, after all!"
Congrats on your coming out and living your truth, Levi! Welcome to the family!
