The Flash Actor Rick Cosnett Comes Out as Gay
He shared a sweet video to Instagram.
Actor Rick Cosnett has just come out as gay in a simple and sweet video posted to Instagram.
“Hi everyone,” he starts off with a nervous laugh. “Dramatic pause. I’m gay. And I just wanted everyone to know because I’ve made a promise to myself to live my truth everyday.”
He goes on to say that living honestly can be difficult “when you have all these subconscious things you don’t even know about from childhood and from society and from being, you know, just life.”
Cosnett has had a successful TV career in America over the past decade, jumping onto The CW with his role as Dr. Wes Mayfield in the middle seasons of The Vampire Diaries. He then joined season one of Quantico as Elias Harper, an openly gay former defense attorney recruited by the FBI.
Perhaps his most recognizable role was that of Detective Eddie Thawne on The Flash, appearing throughout the first season with a couple guest spots in later episodes.
And his former Flash co-star, Candice Patton, immediately showed her support in a comment on his post: “you’re one of the good ones. love u.”
But despite his “dramatic pause” joke, Cosnett doesn’t consider his coming out to be something that will surprise people.
“I’m sure most of you probably knew anyway,” he says at the end of the video.
“So, there you go…and, yeah, that’s actually what I wanted to say.”
