Janelle Monáe Casually Comes Out as Nonbinary
After coming out as pansexual back in 2018, Janelle Monáe has shared another identity with us — she’s non-binary.
The singer came out as nb in the most low-key way ever, merely tweeted #IAmNonbinary, alongside a planet emoji.

Monáe’s post also included a retweet of a message from @camrynieroway, that says “There is absolutely nothing better than living outside the gender binary,” alongside the same hashtag.
#IAmNonbinary was a trending topic on Twitter throughout the day, before Monáe posted. It mostly featured various users who identify as non-binary posting photos of themselves, showing the world that “non-binary” can cover a whole spectrum of people.

Several other celebrities have come out as nonbinary recently, including singer Sam Smith, Atypical star Brigette Lundy-Paine, Scream star Bex Taylor-Klause, and RuPaul's Drag Race queens Valentina and Shea Couleé.
Monáe’s revelation sparked a series of affirming tweets from fans and friends.

She has yet to comment any further on her gender identity, or clarify if her pronouns have changed.
Rachel Kiley is presumably a writer and definitely not a terminator. She can usually be found crying over queerbaiting in the Pitch Perfect franchise or on Twitter, if not both.
