In the wake of facing a President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence (a man who has virulently legislated against LGBT people), Scream star Bex Taylor-Klaus has come out of the closet.
Bex, who's starred in The Killing, Arrow, House of Lies, and the Scream television series has played queer a few times including the bisexual character she currently plays on Scream. Rumors have circulated for years about her sexuality since she first played gay on The Killing a few years ago. But she just came out of the closet in hopes that visibility would help her fans and LGBT people along the way.
She took to Twitter to make the following announcement:
Bex then went live on YouNow to answer questions from fans. When asked by one fan about being scared to come out in lieu of recent events, Autostraddle reports she responded, “Terrified, absolutely terrified. Part of why I’m coming out is because there’s so much hate and fear in and around the LGBT community right now and it’s important for us not to halt progress out of fear. Yes, it’s a scary time, but we need to stand up and say, even if you are afraid, I’m not afraid, or even if I am afraid, I’m strong. I am who I am and you can’t take that away from me.”
Yes! We love this and we love that Bex can represent our community on such a public platform.
With so much temptation to cower in the darkness, Bex is a ray of light and hope.
