6 Things We Should Totally Start Using Pennies to Pay For

A University of North Carolina student recently got fined $110 worth of on-campus parking tickets and instead of being complacent about having to fork over a lot of money for the citations, he decided to be a total rebel and stick it to the man in the most hilarious (and inconvenient) way possible. By paying with 11,000 pennies.

Although the student admits that paying the expensive tickets exclusively using thousands of little copper coins was not out of ill will, but in protest to the way the university allocates funds received from parking fees, we have to admit that his little stunt was pretty funny. And it got us thinking.

What other kinds of things could be pay for in pennies, if only for the sole purpose of making someone’s day incredibly difficult?

Student loans.

Banks are putting more and more hardworking college students into debt for longer periods of time, so it only makes sense to give them a little of their own medicine, right? Screw you, Sallie Mae!.

Textbooks.

$350 for ONE textbook? For a class that meets only once a week?! Fine, but you get pennies! *maniacal laugh*.

Cell phone bills.

Some service providers and their so-called “unlimited” data plans aren’t even worth the real money people pay for them..

Rent.

Paying rent in pennies would be especially satisfying if your landlord is an incredible douchebag..

Concert tickets.

Yes, we love going to concerts to see our fave pop queens slay. But are we happy that we have to pay so many “convenience” fees just to get a ticket? No. Just, no..

Credit card bills.

High interest rates? Absurd spending limits? Pennies for you, evil credit card companies!.

What would you pay for in pennies if you had the opportunity? Let us know in the comments and on Twitter!
