Don't Worry Darling Drama Ramps Up During Festival Premiere
The kisses, the disses, and ... the spit?
The drama surrounding the cast and crew of Don’t Worry Darling only heated up at the film’s Venice Film Festival premiere on Monday.
Probably the wildest thing to come out of the event was the question of whether or not Harry Styles was caught on video spitting on co-star Chris Pine as they waited for the screening to begin.
Video showed Styles walking to his seat, where Pine and Olivia Wilde where already waiting, and making some movement with his mouth that looked like spitting. Pine visibly reacts, looking down at his lap and seeming both surprised and amused.
“So what’s the verdict here? Did Harry spit on Chris Pine? What happened on that movie set bro 💀”— Steve Rogers (@Steve Rogers) 1662427139
It’s the kind of video that could easily go either way, and alternate suggestions about what happened soon circulated, including the idea that Pine was just surprised to find his sunglasses in his lap where he had set them down moments earlier.
Another angle had people claiming that if Harry had spit, it would have hit the floor, anyway.

Even if you believe the animosity between this group had gotten so bad that Styles would hurl saliva at one of his fellow actors, it admittedly would be extra strange to do so in a moment where he knew all eyes were on him for his big entrance.
Plus, another clip seemed to show him smiling as he turned to chat with Pine moments later.
A representative for Styles denied the incident, which is already being referred to as “spitgate,” telling The Guardian that “there is nothing but respect between these two men.”
Earlier press for Don't Worry Darling didn’t really do the already-troubled film any favors, as Wilde did damage control, Pine seemed largely uninterested, Styles’s explanation of movies became a meme, and Florence Pugh, who has received the most praise for her role in the film, simply opted out altogether.

“harry styles about to watch the movie that feels like a, like a movie. That feels like a real, like, you know, like, go to the theatre film movie, the, ya know, you kind of, the reason why you go to watch something on the big screen.”— HARRY SPOKE TO SAM. Whatever bad blood may or may not exist between the cast doesn't seem to have touched Nick Kroll, who was seen encouraging the audience to sing Pugh’s praises as well being kissed by Styles right on the lips.
“All Harry did was smash his face into Nick Kroll’s face — that ain’t no kiss. He never beating the queer baiting allegations”— Meech (@Meech) 1662408693
It was certainly an eventful premiere!
Don’t Worry Darling will get a theatrical release on September 23, which means we still have two and a half more weeks for additional drama to break before then.
