Paper Girls
The trailer for the highly anticipated adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s queer-inclusive comic bookPaper Girls is finally here.
Logline: “In the early morning hours after Halloween 1988, four paper girls — Erin, Mac, Tiffany, and KJ — are out on their delivery route when they become caught in the crossfire between warring time-travelers, changing the course of their lives forever. Transported into the future, these girls must figure out a way to get back home to the past, a journey that will bring them face-to-face with the grown-up versions of themselves. While reconciling that their futures are far different than their 12-year-old selves imagined, they are being hunted by a militant faction of time-travelers known as the Old Watch, who have outlawed time travel so that they can stay in power. In order to survive, the girls will need to overcome their differences and learn to trust each other, and themselves.”
Paper Girls premieres July 29 on Prime Video.

Gay Penguins
Australia’s premier gay penguin couple, Diego and Zorro added an adorable new addition to their family, reports PinkNews. The penguins, who live at the Oceanarium, aka the Bournemouth aquarium, are now fostering a chick — and according to keeper Kat Nicola, they’re the perfect parents. “It has been Diego and Zorro’s second time fostering and once again they have smashed it, becoming quite the experts at parenting,” she said.
Josh Cavallo
Australian A-League soccer star Josh Cavallo came out as gay in October 2021 and became the first top-flight professional soccer player to publicly do so. This month, the footballer is gracing the cover of Men’s Health Australia and opening up about coming to terms with his sexuality and his first experience with a guy.
“I was about 16 years old when I realized I might be gay. It was confusing. I was like, am I into girls? There was something that just wasn’t clicking for me with them. I would love to hang out, but nothing would really happen from it. I wouldn’t find myself sexually attracted to them,” he told the publication.
“I never dated guys back then. There was a long period of me trying to understand, is this what I want? Obviously, my first experience with a guy was a bit later on. It felt like it was something I’d been missing my whole life. It just felt right. That’s when I knew that I’m not going to be straight. I think I’m going to be gay,” he shared.
Neptune Frost
Queer afro-futurist sci-fi musical Neptune Frost from multi-hyphenate, multidisciplinary artist Saul Williams is available now to rent and own on premium video on demand.
Logline: “The film takes place in the hilltops of Burundi, where a group of escaped coltan miners form an anti-colonialist computer hacker collective. From their camp in an otherworldly e-waste dump, they attempt a takeover of the authoritarian regime exploiting the region’s natural resources — and its people. When an intersex runaway and an escaped coltan miner find each other through cosmic forces, their connection sparks glitches within the greater divine circuitry. Set between states of being — past and present, dream and waking life, colonized and free, male and female, memory and prescience — Neptune Frost is an invigorating and empowering direct download to the cerebral cortex and a call to reclaim technology for progressive political ends.”
